U.S. Marines from Golf Company, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, get into 7-ton trucks to move to an area where they can conduct bilateral ski patrol training with Soldiers from 5th Brigade, Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF), during exercise Northern Viper on Hokudaien Training Area, Hokkaido, Japan, Jan. 24, 2020. Northern Viper is a regularly scheduled training exercise that is designed to enhance the collective defense capabilities of the U.S. and Japan Alliance by exposing members of both forces to intense training in an austere environment, allowing them to perfect their skills in any clime and place.
