Following a declaration that Exercise Tradewinds 2012 had officially begun by Col. Alvin E. Quintyne, Chief of Staff Barbados Defence Force, service members from the participating nations unfurl their national flags. Tradewinds is a multinational, inter-agency exercise designed to develop and sustain relationships that improve the capacity of U.S., Canadian and 15 Caribbean partner nations' security forces to counter transnational crime and provide humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.
