200131-N-FA868-1111 PHILIPPINE SEA (Jan. 31, 2020) Sailors assigned amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) and Marines assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 31, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) secure Cpl. Joshua Battin, from San Jose, California, to a stretcher during a medical evacuation drill in the ship’s hangar bay. America, flagship of the America Expeditionary Strike Group, 31st MEU team, is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
