AFRICATOWN, Ala. (Jan. 31, 2020) Chief Navy Counselor Jason Lewis, an instructor at Navy Recruiting Orientation Unit (NORU), delivers remarks during an Africatown appreciation ceremony. Lewis, who grew up in Africatown, stated that he believes the U.S. Navy and the town share a common bond since they are both forged by the sea. Recently, Navy Recruiting Command (NRC) have conducted community service and volunteer projects to help revitalize the town. NRC consists of a command headquarters, two Navy Recruiting Regions, 15 Navy Recruiting Districts and 11 Navy Talent Acquisition Groups that serve more than 815 recruiting stations across the world. Their combined goal is to attract the highest quality candidates to assure the ongoing success of America’s Navy.
