An M1A2 Abrams from 1st battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, drives into the woods during Combined Resolve XIII (CBRXIII) at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center Hohenfels, Germany, on Feb. 02, 2002. Combined Resolve XIII is a Headquarters Department of the Army directed Multinational Unified Land Operation exercise with the U.S. Regionally Aligned Force Brigade in support of European Command (EUCOM) objectives. The purpose of the exercise is to prepare 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Calvary Division along with 16 other allied and partner nations to fight and win in the European theater. The exercise involves more than 5,000 service members and takes place at U.S. Army Europe’s Grafenwoehr and Hohenfels Training Areas.
