A coal hopper conveyer belt stands in the historic steam plant on Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Feb. 4, 2020. The plant, built in 1942 and decommissioned in April 2017, is scheduled to be removed in the next few weeks as part of the decentralization of steam plants on base. During its peak demand, the plant produced just under 360,000 pounds per hour of steam. When the plant began operation in 1943, it was the largest central steam plant owned by the United States military.(U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Taylor Smith)
