119th Wing Maintenance Squadron personnel conduct pre-flight checks on an MQ-9 Reaper aircraft prior to launch in support of Exercise Southern Strike 2020. Southern Strike is a total force, multi-service training exercise hosted by the Mississippi National Guard’s Combat Readiness Training Center in Gulfport, Miss., and Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center near Hattiesburg, Miss. from Jan. 30 through Feb 11, 2020. The exercise emphasizes air-to-air, air-to-ground and special operations forces training opportunities. It is the first time a remotely piloted aircraft is participating in Exercise Southern Strike.
