Senior Airman Erik Holloman, 100th Civil Engineer Squadron Geobase flight, looks through the viewer of a total station (surveying equipment) April 16, 2012, to ensure it is lined up with the prism outside Building 680. Holloman and other geobase members use the global positioning system equipment to plot longitude and latitude, and coordinates for items such as fire hydrants or shrubs. Knowing the location of certain points is useful when buildings or other facilities are being designed.
