Lance Corporal Joshua J. Desimone, an artilleryman with Alpha Battery, 1st Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, digs deeper walls into his mortar firing point during Exercise Brimstone here, June 19. Desimone, a 23-year-old native of Phoenix, Ariz., constructed the position overnight with a team of New Zealand Army gunners. Exercise Brimstone is a part of Exercise Galvanic Kiwi, a U.S. Marine Corps and New Zealand Army training exchange designed to enhance interoperability and foster military-to-military relations between the U.S. and New Zealand.
