120621-N-MH885-002 EAST CHINA SEA (June 21, 2012) - Sailors stand by as an F/A-18 lands on the flight deck of the U.S. Navy's forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73) and Japanese destroyer JS Kurama (DDH -144) pulls alongside during a tri-lateral exercise with the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and the Republic of Korea Navy. Tri-lateral exercises are conducted to promote interoperability between the U.S. and its allies and partners in the Asian-Pacific region.
