Senior Master Sgt. Philip Mohr, with the 72nd Operations Support Squadron, was Airman Mohr during the May 3, 1999, EF-5 tornado. The EF-5 tornado was on the ground for almost an hour and a half and spanned across 38 miles, just narrowly avoiding a direct hit to Tinker Air Force Base, as shown in the aerial photo to Mohr's side. Tinker is located in the upper right-hand corner and it shows how the path of the tornado took a sharp left turn before hitting Tinker. (U.S. Air Force photo/Kelly White)
