An Iowa State University Army ROTC cadet receives a command coin from U.S. Navy Adm. Charles Richard, commander of U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM), during the 2020 Deterrence and Assurance Academic Alliance Conference in Ames, Iowa, March 12, 2020. Over 100 participants attended the two-day event, themed Deterrence: Theory to Application, A Cyclone of Challenges. The event featured student panel presentations, tours and demonstrations, a national security job fair, and a four-hour USSTRATCOM-led tabletop exercise, which simulated a strategic level national security crisis to test their analytic expertise.
