200401-N-PI330-0069 GULF OF OMAN (Apr. 1, 2020) Logistics Specialist Seaman Michael Franklin puts cargo in a tri-wall to be moved off the guided-missile cruiser USS Vella Gulf (CG 72) during a replenishment-at-sea with USNS Amelia Earhart (T-AKE 6) on April 1, 2020. Vella Gulf is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and Pacific through the Western Indian Ocean and the three strategic choke points.
