U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Thomas Browne, a native of Liberia, Africa, who became an American citizen, serves as the billeting NCO for Taji Military Complex, Iraq. As a child, Browne survived a civil war and life in refugee camps before emigrating to the United States. He became both a civilian police officer and joined the military. Shown here during his deployment Feb. 7, 2020, Browne received a promotion from his reserve unit soon afterward.
