200418-N-AC165-0000 NORFOLK, Va. (Apr. 18, 2020) A Henry J. Kaiser-class underway replenishment oiler USNS Patuxent (T-AO-201) returned to Naval Station Norfolk, after serving as the primary duty oiler supporting USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (VN 69)-Carrier Strike Group Ten (CST 10) Composite Unit Training Exercise, conducted in late February. Over the course of 24 sea events, Patuxent transferred 6.3 million gallons of fuel and 350 pallets of critical supplies, and conduced eight personnel transfers. After supporting COMPTUEX, Patuxent deployed to Sixth Fleet, where the ship was responsible for transferring more than 4.1 million gallons of fuel and 300 pallets across five ships and four independent operators during 14 replenishments at sea. Ships like Patuxent play a vital role in Military Sealift Command's combat logistic force. They are equipped to transport essential fuel, provisions, spare parts, and personnel from strategic port facilities to Navy ships, which allows those ships to remain on station while conducting their mission.
