"Back in the '60s and '70s, the Buffalo District nourished Presque Isle's beaches with 70-80,000 cubic yards of sand every year. After we built beach breakwaters in 1992, those numbers were cut in half. We continue to monitor the breakwaters, consider alternatives, look at what we can do better, and make adjustments as we go for the next 23 years of the project."
