Seaman Jennifer Encinas, a Sailor with Expeditionary Medical Facility-M, comforts a patient at Baton Rouge General Mid City campus April 24, 2020. The 100 EMF-M personnel, part of the Department of Defense COVID-19 response, started providing services at a second 30-bed ward this week. EMF-M
coordinates closely with state, local, and public health authorities to ensure the well-being of their personnel and the local population. The military personnel are not intended to replace existing staff or take the roles that could be filled by team members who might be reassigned from low volume areas. They work to ease the strain of the significant patient care surge as part of the BRG Mid City family. U.S. Northern Command, through U.S. Army North, is providing military support to the Federal Emergency Management Agency to help communities in need. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Daniel R.
