EAST CHINA SEA (April 18, 2020) Sgt. Kayla Bear, a heavy equipment chief and a native of Newark, Ohio coaches Lance Cpl. Carson Bice, a motor transportation operator ,both with Combat Logistics Battalion (CLB) 31, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), during a High Intensity Tactical Training event on board the Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship USS Germantown (LSD 42). In order to maintain Marines’ fitness while underway, CLB-31 conducts regular unit physical training. Bear graduated from Newark High school in 2012 before recruiting into the Marine Corps through Recruiting Station Newark. Germantown, part of the America Expeditionary Strike Group, 31st MEU team, is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
