Royal Australian Navy Able Seaman Shaydan McGuire, the unit security officer for Headquarters Northern Command is one of many Australians supporting U.S. Marines and Marine Rotational Force - Darwin 2020 at Larrakeyah Barracks in Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia. McGuire assists Marines with security and force protection measures.
"My favorite part of being in service is the mate-ship, it’s the bond you make with other service member and even the Marines, that 30 years down the road, I can still say they are some of my best mates. My great uncles where in the Vietnam War, and hearing all their stories of mate-ship made me want to join."
July 4, 2020 marks the 102 anniversary of the Battle of Hamel where Australian and U.S. militaries fought together for the first time.
