    Quartermaster 3rd Class Christopher Latham, search and rescue swimmer assigned to the guided-missile frigate USS Vandegrift (FFG 48), and the ships visit, board, search and seizure team approach the ship in a rigid hull inflatable boat after completing a VBSS training event with the U.S. Coast Guard and the Philippine Navy. The event is part of exercise Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training Philippines 2012. CARAT is a series of bilateral military exercises between the U.S. Navy and the armed forces of Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand.
