Dr. Tony Brown, an emergency physician at the Memorial Hospital Texas County in Guymon, Oklahoma, speaks with a member of the Oklahoma Air National Guard about the limitations of the hospital during a visit, May 15, 2020. As of May 19, 2020, Guymon had 650 confirmed cases of COVID-19, making it second in the total number of cases in Oklahoma. Oklahoma City, which has the highest number of COVID-19 cases, has the largest population of any city in Oklahoma, Guymon is 40th. Beginning at the Memorial Hospital of Texas County, which has seen an average of three to four COVID-19 patients a day, and then moving on to the Texas County Health Department and the Seaboard Foods pork processing plant, the group, which consisted of representatives from the Oklahoma Army and Air National Guard, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Oklahoma State Department of Health, Oklahoma State University laboratories, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency, focused on creating solutions to issues such as facility layouts, and supply, resources, and staffing shortages.
