A 5”/54 caliber Mark 45 gun fires from the forecastle of the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Halsey (DDG 97) during a Nimitz Carrier Strike Group (CSG) composite training unit exercise (COMPTUEX). COMPTUEX is an intensive exercise designed to fully integrate units of the CSG, while testing its ability as a whole to carry out sustained combat operations from the sea.
