Lance Cpl. Jose Mendoza, a military police officer with PMO and a Port Lavaca, Texas, native, performs a nystagmus sobriety test, a test to observe if any jerking or trembling of the eyeball is seen, if so the officer then assumes the driver is intoxicated during a sobriety test class aboard Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif., July 10. The military police asked the subjects to stand on one leg while counting, walk a straight line while counting the steps out loud for the officers and finally to follow the officer’s finger using only the subject’s eyes.
