U.S. Army Paratroopers assigned to the 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade, perform first aid and medical evacuation on a simulated casualty as part of the Best Medic Competition under Covid-19 prevention conditions at Caserma Ederle in Vicenza, Italy, June 4, 2020. The trauma manikins provide students with are not only anatomically correct but allow training on various wounds to include amputation, sucking chest wounds, fractures, gunshot wounds, abdominal eviscerations and airway compromise due to facial trauma. The 173rd Airborne Brigade is the U.S. Army's Contingency Response Force in Europe, providing rapidly deployable forces to the United States Europe, Africa and Central Command areas of responsibility.
