Montford Point Marines Congressional Gold Medal Commemorative Ceremony is held at Marine Barracks Washington, Washington, D.C., June 28, 2012. The Montford Point Marines were the first African American Marines to enlist in the Marine Corps during 1942 when our nation was at war and the country and military service were resistant to integration.
