    200609-M-KE756-1002 BAB AL-MANDEB STRAIT (June 9, 2020) The dry cargo and ammunition ship USNS William McLean (T-AKE 12), the amphibious transport dock USS New York (LPD 21) and the guided-missile destroyer USS James E. Williams (DDG 95) transit the Bab Al-Mandeb Strait behind the amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5) June 9, 2020. Bataan with embarked 26th MEU is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and Pacific through the Western Indian Ocean and three critical chokepoints to the free flow of global commerce.
