FORT BLISS, Texas - Command Sgt. Maj. Robert Cobb, left, the senior enlisted advisor for 1st Armored Division and Fort Bliss, announces Staff Sgt. James Ferrone, center, a cavalry scout assigned to Troop B, 2nd Squadron, 13th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team and native of Naperville, Illinois, and Spc. Gage Paraschos, a cavalry scout assigned to Troop B, 2-13 CAV and native of Mount Bethel, Pennsylvania, as 2020’s 1AD Noncommissioned Officer of the Year and Soldier of the Year, respectively, June 12. This year’s Best Warrior Competition included a gauntlet of physical events, including a 12-mile ruck march, the Army Combat Fitness Test and the completion of the Fort Bliss obstacle course, as well as an interview with the 1AD operations sergeant major, determining who best represents the physical and mental excellence that defines 1AD.
