Col. Frank Richie, commanding officer of Marine Corps Air Station, Calif., hits a tennis ball at the ribbon during a ceremony aboard MCAS Miramar, July 16. Instead of using a ribbon and giant scissors, a bow was attached to red wrapping paper and the commanding officer and his family hit tennis balls at it until it tore to mark the opening of the tennis courts.
