Oregon Army National Guard Brig. Gen. William Prendergast IV, Land Component Commander, addresses a group of Soldiers and Airmen after they completed their wildland firefighter training at the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) Salem, Ore., July 12. Prendergast was there to observe the training and motivate the Soldiers to continue to live out the Army values and continue to train for readiness. The firefighter training, which included more than 400 Citizen-Soldiers and Citizen-Airmen from the Oregon National Guard, is part of the state’s coordinated and comprehensive effort to suppress wildfires.
