George Drew, grandson of Frank Drew, poses for a photo in front of the Coast Guard Cutter Frank Drew, July 23, 2020.

The 175-foot coastal buoy tender is named after Frank Drew, a lighthouse keeper who manned Green Island lighthouse between 1903 through 1929, on Lake Eerie. Drew rescued numerous people, towed ships in distress to safety and even sheltered individuals after an aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing.
