    The U.S. Air Force Distinguished Service Medal, established by Congress on July 6, 1960, is awarded to members of the U.S. Air Force who distinguished themselves by meritorious service to the government in a duty of great responsibility, in combat or otherwise. U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Jim Slife, commander of Air Force Special Operations Command, presented U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen.
