The keepsakes of then-Army Sgt. Bob Lehtonen from Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm include several photos and the American flag he flew from his M109A2 Howitzer across deserts of the Persian Gulf in 1990 and 1991. Lehtonen went on to retire as the command sergeant major of the Field Artillery and credited his experience in the Gulf War for his Army career longevity.
