200731-N-LW757-1014 SAN DIEGO (July 31, 2020) Staff assigned Naval Amphibious Base (NAB) Coronado's dental clinic pose for a photo at the clinic July 31. Lt. Cmdr. Geoffrey Ward, NAB Coronado's dental clinic's divisional officer (center), received a letter of appreciation from Capt. Fernando Leyva, Naval Medical Center San Diego's (NMCSD) Director of Medical Services (not pictured), for his efforts in developing instructions and workflows for conducting drive-thru coronavirus (COVID-19) testing, acute patient screening, symptomatic and pre-procedural testing and co-authored standard operating procedures to provide care for COVID-19 patients at NMCSD. NMCSD’s mission is to prepare service members to deploy in support of operational forces, deliver high quality healthcare services, and shape the future of military medicine through education, training, and research. NMCSD employs more than 6,000 active duty military personnel, civilians, and contractors in Southern California to provide patients with world-class care anytime, anywhere.
