    U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command

Recruits work as a team to extinguish simulated fires during firefighting and damage control training inside the USS Chief Fire Fighter Trainer at Recruit Training Command (RTC). While at RTC, recruits receive hands-on training with equipment during applied labs inside their recruit barracks. They put their training into practice within a controlled training environment at the USS Chief where they fight a fire as a member of a hose team, discharge a CO2 bottle, and egress through a dark, smoke-filled room. Firefighting and damage control are one of the foundational skills required of recruits on their journey to become a Sailor in the world’s finest Navy. More than 40,000 recruits train annually at the Navy's only boot camp. (U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 1st Class Camilo Fernan)
