    The Marines of Company C, 4th Tank Battalion, USMC Reserves take the field to start the deactivation ceremony. As the United States Marine Corps carries out its commandant’s guidance in Force Design 2030, the Corps is divesting its tank battalions. Throughout the Marines, active duty and reserve tank battalions are being deactivated. On Friday evening, August 14, 2020, at Idaho National Guard Base Gowen Field, also home to the Marines of Company C, 4th Tank Battalion, USMC Reserves, the unit was officially deactivated.

    Company C was organized on July 22, 1942. The company fought in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Company C returned from the Korean War to Boise as a rifle Company in 1954. In 1962 it was designated as the 2nd Tank Company until 1967 when it became C Company, 4th Tank Battalion. The company was deployed to southwest Asia in support of Desert Storm seeing ground combat action in liberating Kuwait and extensive combat operations in Iraq In 2005.
