On August 22, 2007, during a nighttime mission in Kirkuk, northern Iraq, 10 Reconnaissance Scouts assigned to the 2nd Infantry Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment and 4 Helicopter Crew Members assigned to the 4th Squadron, 6th U.S. Air Cavalry Regiment died of injuries suffered when their helicopter crashed.
This week, August 19th, 2020, Cacti’s Scouts Platoon honored them with a word from 1SG Marques, a former Scout who once served with the now fallen soldiers. Additionally, todays Scouts performed a memorial physical training exercise to honor all 14 Heroes.
