An F-35A Lightning II assigned to the 63rd Fighter Squadron takes off Aug. 21, 2020, at Luke Air Force Base, Ariz. The F-35 is the newest fifth-generation fighter in the U.S. Air Force and has more than 43,000 pounds of thrust. Luke AFB is the largest fighter wing in the U.S. Air Force and is responsible for training 75 percent of the world’s F-16 Fighting Falcon and F-35 fighter pilots.
