.S. Air Force ceremonial guardsmen with the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson Honor Guard, perform a six-man funeral sequence during an Honor Guard graduation ceremony at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Aug. 26, 2020. The primary mission of the base Honor Guard program is to employ, equip and train Air Force members to provide professional military funeral honors for active duty members, retirees and veterans. In January of 2000, public law was implemented, providing all veterans the right to a funeral ceremony that includes, at minimum, the folding of a U.S. flag, presentation of the flag to the veteran’s family and the playing of “Taps.” (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Crystal A.
