The New Jersey Korean War Memorial honors the 191,000 New Jerseyans who served in the conflict, and stands where Park Place meets the Boardwalk on land donated by Atlantic City, N.J., Aug. 24, 2020. The Memorial was dedicated Nov. 13, 2000, and features bronze figures of heroic proportions, representing servicemen and women who fought in Korea. The most memorable being the 12 foot tall "Mourning Soldier" who is clutching several dog tags and remembering his lost comrades. Also represented are a Soldier and nurse helping a wounded Soldier and two battlefield reliefs behind sheets of water cascading into reflecting pools. Beneath a sculpted eternal flame is a wall with the names of all New Jersey service members killed or missing in action. In addition, a bas-relief sculpture wall honors the five New Jersey servicemen who were awarded the Medal of Honor for heroism in Korea.
