On September, 12, 2020, the annual Brainerd Bataan Memorial March for the 1st Combined Arms Battalion, 194th Armor with the Minnesota National Guard, took place. The half marathon (13.1 miles) event and ceremony was held at Camp Ripley Training Center this year, while following Minnesota's COVID-19 guidelines. All of the participants ran, walked or rucked along the beautiful Mississippi River in remembrance of the Bataan Death March.
"The Brainerd Bataan Memorial March commemorates the sacrifices of those who suffered the infamous Bataan Death March of 1942," stated on the Brainerd Bataan website.
For the past 23 years, the entire 1-194th Battalion has participated in either a half marathon or a full marathon run/walk and a half marathon ruck march, individual or team. However with some limitations, only the half marathon was an option this year.
