Sgt. 1st Class Daniel Tumey, a combat medic from the 8th Medical Command at Fort Shafter, Hawaii, qualifies on his assigned weapon, an M4 carbine rifle Sept. 21, 2020 at the qualification training range 2, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii for the Army Best Warrior Competition.
Toomey is competing for the prestigious title of Noncommissioned Officer of the Year against ten other NCOs and has mastered a series of benchmarks throughout the year to qualify for this Department of the Army Competition. Due to the coronavirus, this years competition is being held virtually with competitors competing at their home stations, and the competition will culminate with a virtual knowledge board presided over by the Sergeant Major of the Army.
