    Lt. Col. Kristina Stanger, incoming commander for the 109th Multifunctional Medical Battalion, takes charge of a formation of more than 300 Soldiers alongside Command Sgt. Maj. Jeffery Lewis, command sergeant major of the 109th MMB, in Iowa City, Iowa, on Aug. 29, 2020. This concluded the change of command ceremony, marking the first time in Iowa Army National Guard history that a battalion change of command took place between two female officers.
