Capt. Bob Schmelig of the 316th ESC works in the unit's Early Entry Command Post erected during a training assembly in September. Schmelig serves as a human resources officer in the unit and plans to take command of another unit and lead it during an overseas deployment early next year.
“There are so many opportunities and so much to do, it can be overwhelming,” Schmelig said. “The key is looking for ways to get more involved and to not give up.”
