200922-N-IE405-1187 STRAIT OF HORMUZ (Sept. 22, 2020) - Aviation Electrician’s Mate 2nd Class James Pena directs a MH-60R Seahawk helicopter, attached to Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 48, on the flight deck of the guided-missile cruiser USS Philippine Sea (CG 58), during a patrol in support of Operation Sentinel in the Strait of Hormuz, Sept. 22. Philippine Sea is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and Pacific through the Western Indian Ocean and three critical chokepoints to the free flow of global commerce.
