PHILIPPINE SEA (Sept. 21, 2020) Marines and Sailors with Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) watch the sun rise over the horizon, while waiting for fast rope training to begin. The training was conducted aboard USS America (LHA 6) in preparation for future operations with specialized insertion methods. America, flagship of Expeditionary Strike Group 7, along with the 31st MEU, is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
