An F/A-18E Super Hornet, attached to the Eagles of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 115, breaks the sound barrier during an air power demonstration, showcasing firepower capability and maneuverability while at sea in the Indo-Pacific region. Events included formation flybys, high-speed aerial turns and rocket shoots by Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 5 aircraft, and a 5-inch gun shoot from guided-missile cruiser USS Antietam (CG 54). CVW-5 is currently embarked on the Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the United Sates, as well as the collective maritime interests of its allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific region.
