Alaska Army National Guardsman Col. Robert Kurtz recently stepped down as the State Aviation Officer for 1st Battalion, 207th Aviation Regiment upon retirement Sept. 30, 2020 at the Bryant Army Airfield. He served the Alaska Army National Guard for five years, and was responsible for transforming the unit during an important transitionary period for Army aviators across the nation. He was awarded the federal and state Legion of Merit medals, along with the coveted Master Aviator Badge, which requires at least 2,000 flight hours and 15 years of experience.
