U.S. NAVAL BASE GUAM (Oct. 2, 2020) U.S. Marine Cpl. Pierre Porchiola, a combat engineer with Battalion Landing Team, 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) and a native of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, receives the gung-ho award at a Corporals Course graduation aboard dock landing ship USS Germantown. The gung-ho award is giving to the Marine or Sailor in a Corporals Course who is the best leader. Germantown, part of the Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG) 7, 31st MEU team, is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
