Soldiers from the Maryland National Guard’s 169 Cyber Protection Team participate in Cyber Shield 2020 at the Pvt. Henry Costin Readiness Center in Laurel, Md., September 24. Soldiers from the 169 CPT joined more than 800 soldiers and airmen from over 40 states and territories for this year’s exercise that ran from September 12—27. According to the National Guard Bureau, the mission of Cyber Shield is to develop, train and exercise cyber forces in the areas of computer network internal defensive measures and cyber incident response. One of 169 CPT’s participants, Warrant Officer Giovanni Morales felt the mission of the exercise was best served during days that were dedicated to team collaboration and information sharing.
