U.S. Marines with Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron (H&HS) Futenma conduct a hot refuel on the F-35B Lightning II aircraft with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 121 (VMFA-121), 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, at Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, Okinawa, Japan, Oct. 7, 2020. The hot pits allow aircraft to rapidly refuel without powering down their engines, increasing operational readiness and reducing the amount of time needed to get the aircraft back into action.
